Brake Adjustment (Loosen/Tighten)

Tip: To prolong the lifespan of your brakes and ensure smooth performance, always use both brakes together, engaging the rear brake slightly before the front to maintain balance and reduce strain on the front fork.

To properly adjust your brakes, follow these steps:

  • Ensure the wheel is properly seated in the dropouts of the frame. A misaligned wheel can cause the brake rotor to rub against the pads, leading to noise or reduced braking efficiency.
  • Inspect the brake rotor for any bends, dirt, or damage. A warped or dirty rotor can affect braking performance and cause unwanted noise.
  • Align the brake caliper correctly so the stationary inner pad sits close and parallel to the rotor. Misalignment can cause inconsistent braking or rubbing.
  • Check and adjust the brake cable tension to ensure the brake lever has a responsive feel and proper stopping power. Fine-tuning the tension will help achieve optimal brake function.

If issues persist, consider rechecking all connections or consulting a professional for further adjustments.
